The children who suffered from sexual abuse and torture in Pozantı prison are still being punished in Sincan prison

T
orture against jailed Kurdish children in Pozantı prison didn’t come to an end in Ankara Sincan Closed prison where they were transferred following the exposure of rape cases they were subject to. The children who suffered from sexual abuse and torture in Pozantı prison have been beaten and put in one-person cells in Sincan prison as well.

As the children have been subject to systematical pressure and torture since they brought the scandal in Pozantı prison into light, the cruelty in Sincan Prison has been revealed following 17 year-old Y.D.’s most recent meeting with his mother.

Speaking to ANF following the visit, mother Hayriye Damar gave information about the complaints of his son who said that the children have suffered from constant pressures in prison. “My son and his friends have been subject to insults, beaten and put in cells for being Kurd and having exposed the scandal”, said mother Damar.

Remarking that the children have been intentionally sent to a prison far from their families who rarely have sufficient financial possibilities to visit their children, Damar said that; “My longing for my son has been multiplied with the torture news I have received from him.” Damar, concerned about her son’s life, applied to Human Rights Association (IHD) Mersin Branch to demand support.

IHD Mersin Branch Chair Ali Tanrıverdi remarked that they will launch an investigation and take necessary steps in line with the numerous applications of right violations against the children in Sincan Prison. Tanrıverdi added that the statement to inform the public on the issue will be made in the coming weeks.
