Turkish army keeps operations going in many areas
Peoples Defense Forces Press Office (HPG-BIM) released a statement and warned that the ongoing operations in the rural areas of Bingöl, Muş and Amed endanger the life of AKP Kulp district chair and six village guards who have recently been taken into custody and arrested by HPG guerrillas.
The statement by HPG-BIM pointed out that the Turkish army operation which started on 12 May still continues with intense bombardments by cobra type helicopters and tanks.
The operations in Bingöl, Muş and Amed endanger the life of seven detainees who are still interrogated by guerrillas, underlined the statement and added that; In this context, it should be known that the operations which are carried out under cover of rescue operations have the aim of destruction. The family circles and democratic public opinion should display the necessary awareness towards this intention.
The HPG statement also reminded that the Turkish army operation in the rural areas of Kağızman/Kars still continues since 17 May.
AKP Kulp district chair Veysel Çelik was taken into custody by HPG guerrillas during road control on 12 May. Six village guards, who had reportedly taken place in the operation where 15 woman guerrillas lost their lives on 24 March, were also detained by guerrillas on 18 May evening.
In a statement on 15 May, HPG announced that AKP Kulp chair was arrested and sternly warned AKP administrators; The executives of the fascist government shall be judged.
