Clashes in Çukurca

Clashes and casualties are reported in Çukurca district of Hakkari where guerrillas carried out actions against two military units.

According to reports received, the actions by People’s Defense Forces (HPG) guerrillas targeted two military units in the villages of Kavuşak and Işıklı in Çukurca. Clashes are reported to continue as there is an intense traffic of military helicopters in the area. Some soldiers are reported to have died and wounded as a result of the actions.

Separate clashes broke out in the rural area of Umurlu (Girane) village of Şemdinli between Turkish soldiers and HPG guerrillas. A large number of helicopters, soldiers and ambulances have been sent to the area where clashes are reported to continue.

On the other hand, a construction site in the region of Hakkari was targeted by an armed attack late on Monday night. The attack reportedly targeted the construction area in Büyükçay ve Altınbaşak villages where two bridges have been built to enable transportation between Iran and Turkey.
