Tension high after Syrian shot down Turkish plane
The crisis between Turkey and Syrian is deepening since the Syrian forces shot down a Turkish reconnaissance plane last week.
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) have been given instructions to treat any approaching Syrian military unit as a threat.
Erdoğan underlined that "Bashar al-Assad’s regime has become a clear and present danger to Turkey’s security."
Speaking at a meeting of his Justice and Development Party (AK Party) in Parliament, Erdoğan added that "The rules of engagement of the Turkish Armed Forces have changed."
Soon after Erdoğan’s speech, military vehicles were seen carrying reinforcements to the Syrian border in a sign of escalating tensions along the border.
