Police attacks demonstration in Hakkari

Clashes reported between demonstrators and police in Yüksekova district of Hakkari. Hundreds of people are staging a protest act in district center against the police attack on “Democratic Resistance for Freedom” rally in Diyarbakır on Saturday.

Clashes in the district broke out after the demonstration of protestors was attacked by police using gas bombs and pressure water. Protestors respond to police attack with stones and fireworks. They made barricades and lit fires on some streets.

Shopkeepers closed their shops after the beginning of events in the district. An explosion near a market in district center caused material damage. The explosion is thought to have been caused by a blast bomb.
